How to Wrap and Tuck Fabric

The Top Banana Flex Cornice has a tuck slot on either side for fabric and trim. Use both or just one tuck slot depending on the style you wish to create. To cover the cornice using both tuck slots you will need approximately 26 inches.

Cut the fabric of your choice longer than the length of the cornice in order to have ample fabric on either end to tuck between the cornice and the wall or to fold fabric under so raw edges do not show. We suggest an extra inch for tucking or folding. However, we recommend cutting fabric longer until you are ready to wrap the cornice making sure both ends of the fabric are cut straight. Wrap the cornice, then trim fabric so it extends about an inch on either end.

Use straight or T-pins, to secure any trim or ornaments … or any type of fabric adhesive if you prefer. Please note, your cornice can be hung with the front tuck slot either at the top or bottom depending on style. Visit our Design Gallery for ideas and suggestion

Hints for fabric yardage and fabric purchase:
The common width of fabric is 54 inches or 60 inches. Try and purchase fabric that the width of the fabric will cover the entire length of the cornice ordered with enough extra fabric to tuck or fold under at either end.

When the width of the fabric is not enough to run the span of the cornice, you can “railroad” or place the fabric on its side and run horizontally across the cornice. Of course, you must take the pattern in consideration when doing this. But there are so many beautiful fabrics that can be railroaded we strongly recommend railroading.
